South County THRIVES

The South County THRIVES initiative is a community development program supported by a generous grant from the San Francisco Foundation through the Great Communities Collaborative. This initiative focuses on four critical pillars:

Integrated Vision for Economic Sustainability (THRIVES)

Our goal is to foster collaborations across public, private, and nonprofit sectors to address South County’s most pressing needs and transform the region into a thriving, resilient community where every resident has the opportunity to succeed. We aim to drive sustainable change by tackling the root causes of community challenges through innovative solutions.

A Collaborative Journey

At Gilroy Foundation, we are embarking on a journey unlike anything we’ve done before. This year, our grant request was substantial, and we recognized that collaboration and partnership with other organizations are essential to help our community. Shedding light on the true situation in South County is imperative to garner attention from regional funders and beyond, propelling us forward.

With this grant, we will conduct a thorough analysis of the needs in Gilroy, San Martin, and Morgan Hill, ensuring we can address the real issues and drive meaningful change in our community.

Strategic Focus Areas

Transportation

Transportation is the backbone of our community’s infrastructure. By improving connectivity and accessibility, we aim to enhance economic growth and improve the quality of life for all residents. This initiative will identify and address critical transportation needs, ensuring safe and efficient movement throughout South County.

Housing

Access to safe, affordable housing is fundamental to a thriving community. We are committed to tackling housing challenges by exploring and implementing solutions that provide stable, affordable housing options. Prioritizing housing will create a foundation for social stability and economic development in our community.

Resilience

Building resilience is essential for the long-term well-being of South County. We will focus on strengthening our community’s ability to adapt to and recover from challenges. By addressing underlying vulnerabilities, we aim to ensure that South County remains a place where residents can thrive, even in the face of adversity.

Integrated Vision for Economic Sustainability (THRIVES)

An integrated vision for economic sustainability is the cornerstone of South County THRIVES. By taking a holistic approach, we aim to create sustainable economic growth that benefits every resident. This involves addressing interconnected needs such as education, job creation, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.

South County THRIVES Seeks Consultant

The South County THRIVES initiative is seeking a consultant to execute the community development program in four strategic areas.

Formerly called GilroyTHRIVES, the initiative spearheaded by Gilroy Foundation aims to to enhance community health and well-being in South County in the areas of transportation, housing, resilience, and an integrated vision for economic sustainability (THRIVES).

It’s made possible by a grant from the San Francisco Foundation through the Great Communities Collaborative.

A consultant for the initiative will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and execution of various projects focused on improving community wellness and resilience in South County
